Nokia 7 goes official with Snapdragon 630 processor, 6GB RAM


HMD Global, the company responsible for reviving the Nokia brand, has just announced Nokia 7, the comapany's first upper mid-range smartphone. It boasts premium design and mid-range specs, and will fill the gap between Nokia 6 and the flagship Nokia 8. It sports 7000 series aluminum chassis with diamond cut bevelled edges and Gorilla Glass on the back. 

In terms of specifications, the Nokia 7 features 5.2-inch Full HD 2.5D curved glass display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and has 2.2GHz Octa-core Snapdragon 630 processor and 3000mAh battery. It comes with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM and houses 64GB internal storage, that's expandable via microSD card. It runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and is upgradable to Android Oreo.

The camera department includes Zeiss Certified 16MP f/1.8 rear camera with PDAF, dual-tone LED flash and 80-degree wide angle lens. For selfies you get 5MP f/2.0 camera with 84-degree wide-angle lens.  The camera app comes with a feature called "Dual-Sight" mode (boathie), that lets you use both front and back cameras simultaneously for split-screen photos and video. This feature also lets you stream directly to Facebook and YouTube Live as well in real-time.


For connectivity, there's hybrid dual-SIM slots and support for 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and USB Type-C. It is backed by 3000mAh battery and features fast charging support, Nokia OZO surround sound for 3D audio capture and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Nokia 7 has been priced at CNY 2499 ($376 | Rs. 24,500) for the 4GB RAM variant, and CNY 2699 ($406 | Rs. 26,500) for the model with 6GB RAM. It comes in Gloss Back and Matt White colors, and is now available to pre-order from JD.com, Suning and Tmall in China. The Nokia 7 will hit the shelves on October 24.
